Park City is a unique small town with quite a bit of history. I recently joined the Park City Museum which is a wonderful place to learn all about the history of our small town and I would encourage you to visit if you are ever in Park City, Utah. I visited the museum recently and was really surprised by how comprehensive and easy it was to learn all kinds of fun facts about the mining industry, how that morphed into the ski industry, and all the larger than life character’s who made the town what it is today. One of the really interesting exhibits was an interactive topographical map of Park City and Deer Valley mountain resorts. It showed the operational ski lifts so one could get their bearings and then if you pushed a button, the corresponding mine or tunnel would light up. I never knew the system was so extensive. Yesterday I participated in a wonderful tour of the location and history of all the mines, railways and tunnels that once were at the Park City Resort. This is actually a skiing tour and quite fun. Park City Museum has restored several of the buildings and has plans to continue to preserve several more. I loved earning about the buildings and equipment I have skied past for years. When you look at my mountain paintings, think about what lies underneath as well!
