Spring can be a crazy time in the mountains. One can experience all four seasons in a single day, multiple times. From moment to moment the sky will be clear, then fill with clouds, wind blowing, snow squalls all around, or sleety rain. Several times this April, it has snowed enough for me to want to crawl under a rock and wait for “real spring” as our little piece of the world here in Utah turned white. A lovely trip to NYC a few weeks ago gave me a taste of spring and it was hard to go back to what we call in the east, “winter”. Once in awhile though, it will be warm enough for me to take a bike ride. I notice the hardy perennials in my garden popping through the earth. In the process of making this four panel abstract painting, all my conflicted emotions about embracing, (or running from), the recent weather tumbled out onto the panels.
