I have contemplated the attraction to my road paintings; is it the road itself that suggests a journey? Is it a metaphor for the journey we all live each day? Perhaps it isn’t the road at all but the open sky? In my contemporary oil paintings, I really like layering complementary color glazes over each other. After the base layer is dry, I glaze again and move the wet paint around, creating movement with the marks I make. This original art falls to the abstract with hatch-marks revealing the shimmering metal panel beneath the oil paint and bright colors to enliven the piece.
