First Snow
Perspective is interesting when you live in the mountains. I see the broad expanse of the Wasatch Back from my art studio every day; from the Deer Valley Resort, across the Park City Resort, and to the Olympic Park where they held the ski jumps at the 2002 Olympics. It is a breathtaking range. For this original mountain painting, I wanted the viewer to be more intimate with the mountain, to feel like they own it or that the mountain owns them. The silver from the metal panel is covered in broad swaths of oil paint. Applied with palette knives and brush, it suggests rock, snow, and mist creating a very modern mountainscape.
