Braving the Storm

I met a buffalo in Yellowstone National Park, he was about 20 feet away from me, huge, wooly and noshing on lots of tall grass near the road.  They are truly magnificent beasts that look like they have been and will be here though the end of time. Of course they were slaughtered in the taming of the west and buffalo in the wild are on the endangered species list of animals to protect.  There is a big reserve in Jackson, Wyoming where you can view them way off in the distance, which is also a wonderful experience. I don’t often paint animals so it was a nice way to change things up for a minute and honor this beautiful animal.
