Mysticism and other worldly influences filtered through the New York Armory Show in 2021. I have been in tune with this other worldliness since I was a kid. Not quite like the kid in the movie The Sixth Sense, but aware. My subjects are often things that I wonder if other people notice or see the same way that I do. Compelled to express myself through my painting, I explore these experiences and my memory through color, composition and technique.
I’ll Be Right in the next room…was Never Close Enough After a Nightmare, (above), is a favorite of mine. I feel like I really nailed it. Delving into my childhood memory of my revolutionary era bedroom at night, obviously uncomfortable, and somewhat comforted by the light.

Wow! This is stunning. Interesting that your childhood bedroom was the inspiration for this piece. I was immediately transported to NYC and the buildings looming over Riverside Park. That sense of eons of souls whose echoes reverberate through that space. Love it!
We certainly shared an interesting time on New York’s Upper West Side together in our pre-war building. I love all those old buildings and imagine what they must have been like when they were new, who lived there and all the life events that took place within their walls. I always especially liked the mansion on the corner of 102 and West End Ave. I will have to take a train up there and see if it is still there.
