My daughter is studying in Salamanca for her spring semester so I joined her in Spain for an Easter visit. Luckily, she loves art as much as I do and we explored the wonderful museums together, enjoyed the delicious Spanish cuisine and walked everywhere!
The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum has some amazing exhibits right now. I loved the Hyper-realism 1967-2012 show! It was amazing and very current with contemporary artists represented in the show. I came away from the show realizing I want to learn how to use an airbrush. The technique has a wonderful modern feel to it, as well as nostalgic. It has the same effect that the TV show Mad Men has had on the house ware, clothing and even the housing market, noting how popular the mid century modern houses have become. I have been working on a city scape and think it would be and ideal piece on which to attempt airbrushing. I was considering using glazes but the airbrush will add a more modern feel to the piece if I can master it fairly quickly. Here is the the work in progress.
