First Place!

I am very pleased to announce that my oil painting titled “Overton’s” won first place in the Secret Norwalk Show!  I used that painting for the header of this website.  Initially, I submitted the Shefield Island painting and this photograph on the left as I was not sure I could complete the painting before the submission deadline.  When I finished the painting after the deadline, I asked if they could possibly accept it for the show to pair with the photograph which is kind of interesting.  I always enjoy seeing the inspiration for a piece and how it is interpreted by the artist and assume I am not alone in this interest.   You can see the painting in its entirety in my May 16th  post, (click the date).  The show opened Friday evening and will run through July 20th, 2013 at the Norwalk Historical Society, 2 Wall Street in Norwalk, CT.  There is a wonderful assortment of photographs, paintings, pastels and collages, each depicting a special place in Norwalk. The show is housed in The Town House, erected in 1836.  There are two other buildings on the site that have been moved from other parts of town; The Downtown District Schoolhouse, built in 1826 and Governor Thomas Fitch’s office built in 1740. Mill Hill is an very cool place and you can see the ten year plan to enhance this wonderful historic complex which in itself is a bit of a secret.  I hope you will go to see the show, enjoy the historical significance of the Mill Hill Complex, and discover the secret places in Norwalk as I will this summer.
