It was mid-afternoon, no one was there, and I wasn’t sure I was in the right place to go into Manhattan. A man approached and we started talking. He was “Solus” a street artist from Dublin Ireland who was in town to work with “The Bushwick Collective” on the murals in Brooklyn. This was a few years ago, before it became super popular. He was telling me about the murals he had planned for some walls in Manhattan and that he was invited to participate in “Art Basel” in Miami. At this point I thought he was telling some tall tales so when I got on the train I googled him. It was all true. I investigated the Bushwick Collective and my love of Street Art was born. Interpreting flowers in spray paint brings a modern edge to a traditional subject. The veils of color create softness and new colors, blending the edges and building a rich hue on the flat surface of the silver steel. In this piece, I experimented with masking, using cut out curves and edges to shield the panel while layering colors on top. “Sky Scrapers”, oil on brushed aluminum, 19″ x 15″, $975 “Half Moon Bay”, 24″ x 24″,oil on linen, $1700 Break in the Storm, oil on brushed aluminum panel, 27″ x 27″ Miami Art Show at the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery2075 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127 Overton’s, 24″ x 36″, Oil on aluminum Trent Call’s Road Biker “Plaza Mayor”, 14″ x 14″ oil on canvas, $600 Neon Rose, 36″ x 48″ unframed, Acrylic on steel, $350, California Mountain Triptych, panel 3 of 3, 24″ x 48″, Oil on aluminum “First Snow”, 40″ x 40″, Oil on steel, $5600 Morning Fog “Red Sky at Night”, 24″ x 24″, oil on metal Image Info Dimensions 828 × 558 Date May 10, 2016 Camera iPhone 5s Aperture f⁄2 Focal Length 4 mm ISO 50 Shutter Speed 1⁄60 sec Name summer-storm-shadow-by-cynthia-mcloughlin-15-5-x-19-5-including-frame-ink-on-paper-250-copy.jpg Mime Type image/jpeg Type JPG Size 131.09 KB
